GCBC Church Covenant

Having been led the Holy Spirit to repent of our sins and receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we do now, by God’s grace, solemnly and joyfully confirm our covenant  together as one body in Christ.

We will submit to the authority of the Scriptures as the final word in all matters pertaining to life and doctrine.

We will not neglect to attend and to participate in the church’s gatherings to worship the Lord and fellowship with each other.

Together we will maintain a faithful gospel ministry in this church by upholding the preaching of God’s Word, by defending our doctrines, by administering Believer’s Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and by exercising Church Discipline.

We will regularly, cheerfully and generously give of our talents and resources to support the ministry of this church, the needs of those among us and the spread of the gospel to the nations.

We will be devoted to one another in brotherly love and strive to maintain the unity in this church. We will resist gossip, faithfully encourage and admonish one another, and pursue forgiveness and reconciliation as occasion requires.

We will seek to bear each other’s burdens, to participate in each other’s joys, and to regularly pray for each other.

With God’s help, we will strive to live upright, self-controlled, and godly lives, denying ungodliness and worldly passions.

We will aim to spend regular time in God’s word, in prayer, and in fellowship with each other.

We will seek to nurture and bring up those under our care according to God’s ways.

We will endeavour to win souls to Christ by reflecting Jesus through our lives and by faithfully proclaiming the gospel to our family, friends and neighbours.

If we leave this congregation, we will join another gospel-preaching church as soon as possible where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.

Amen.
